Pet Embroidery at Sunday Girl Café — February Workshop
Our February pet embroidery workshop at Sunday Girl brought together another wonderful mix of people, pets, and creative energy in the coziest Old City cafe. We welcomed 13 pet lovers into the café, and the group felt incredibly special from the start. Some people came with friends, others arrived solo, and we even had a full family join, two sisters and their brother, plus a mom and daughter crafting together. I love seeing how these workshops naturally bring together people from completely different parts of life around one shared table.
As always, everyone embroidered a custom design created from photos they submitted ahead of time. Most people stitched their cats and dogs, but I love when participants make the project their own. One guest embroidered a Matchbox logo, and another stitched their foster cat to help spread the word about adoption. And a very emotional moment was had, when a woman stitched out her dogs in remembrance. Every hoop told a different story.
And true to Sunday Girl tradition… we ran over time again. No one ever wants to leave. At one point the workshop turned into an unofficial book circle, with people swapping reading recommendations and sharing favorite things to do around Philly. Conversations moved easily between stitching, coffee, pets, and city life. It’s the kind of environment where strangers quickly stop feeling like strangers.
We also had two furry guests join us this time, because Sunday Girl is pet-friendly and clearly supportive of the workshop theme. Having dogs calmly hanging out while everyone stitched somehow made the whole afternoon feel even cozier.
There’s something really special about meeting new people in Philadelphia over incredible coffee, working with your hands, and taking a few hours to slow down together. The team at Sunday Girl continues to create such a welcoming space, and I’m so grateful to partner with a café run by such an amazing group of women. Every time we host this workshop, it feels less like an event and more like a little creative community forming in real time. I already can’t wait for the next one.
