Crafts & Crafts Mosaic Tray Workshop at Tonewood Brewing
Thursday nights at Tonewood Brewing are quickly becoming one of my favorite ways to bring people together, and this Mosaic Tray Workshop was another perfect example of why I love hosting my Crafts & Crafts series.
For anyone new here, Crafts & Crafts is exactly what it sounds like: crafting while sipping craft beer. I bring the workshop into local spaces, and together we turn a normal night out into a creative experience. This workshop welcomed 19 crafters ready to try mosaics, many for the very first time. Each person designed and created their own mosaic tray dish that could be used as décor, a catch-all tray, or a handmade statement piece for their home.
What made the night so fun was seeing how differently everyone approached the same materials. Some people created soft color gradients, others built floral patterns, ocean-inspired designs, or trays that perfectly matched their home décor. A few participants came in with a vision, while others let the design evolve piece by piece. By the end of the night, every tray felt completely unique.
All of the mosaic materials were made from repurposed glassware sourced from Goodwill, which made the process even more special. Turning discarded glass into something beautiful felt very on brand for Ray of Sunshine Crafting Co., creative, resourceful, and rooted in making something meaningful by hand.
The energy in the room was exactly what I hope for at these events: people laughing, sharing tables, learning something new, and relaxing with a beer while working with their hands. It never feels like a formal class. It feels like a creative night out. Watching strangers become tablemates and tablemates become friends will never get old. That’s the magic of Crafts & Crafts, good people, local beer, and creativity bringing everyone together.
Events like this truly wouldn’t be possible without the support of my friends, family, and the incredible local spaces that welcome these workshops. I love learning new crafts myself and then getting to teach them in a way that feels approachable and fun for everyone.
