Senior Craft Workshop: Tissue Paper Flower Bouquets at WOW Center
For our March 55+ Craft Class at the WOW Center in Merchantville, we created tissue paper flower bouquets, starting with a custom vase design that I illustrated for the group. Each participant colored in their vase, added hand-drawn branches, and then built out their bouquet using tissue paper to create flowers.
What made this workshop even more special was something my sister pointed out. She hadn’t been to one of these sessions in a few months, and she couldn’t believe how much some of the women had grown in their confidence. One participant in particular, Maria, used to be very hesitant. She would follow along closely and look to me for reassurance at each step. This time, it was completely different. She jumped right in, made creative decisions on her own, and even finished her piece early.
Watching her trust her instincts and create something entirely her own was such a full-circle moment. That’s always the best part of these workshops, watching people start with the same materials and end up with something completely unique to them. These monthly sessions at the WOW Center are all about creating something approachable, creative, and enjoyable, no matter your experience level. It’s less about getting it “perfect” and more about trying something new and having a good time doing it.
