Beaded Suncatchers & Sunshine

Our June craft class was a bright and joyful one. We made beaded suncatchers to welcome the summer sunshine! These colorful creations were a hit, and it was so fun watching everyone string together something cheerful to hang in their window or garden.

Behind the scenes, this one took a bit of extra prep. My mom and I spent time out in the backyard cutting branches to size with giant shears (yes, really) each one carefully chosen to serve as the base of the suncatcher. I also put together individual craft kits for everyone, complete with pre-counted and measured beads, beading needles, and pre-cut twine. The goal? To make it as easy and accessible as possible for every participant, especially for those with shaky hands or limited vision.

I always want these activities to be fun and relaxing, not stressful, so taking the time to prep kits like this makes all the difference. That way, everyone can just sit down, enjoy themselves, and feel proud of what they create.

Every class is a reminder of why I love doing this, spreading creativity, making meaningful things, and most of all, bringing people together. Whether you’re crafty or not, there’s a place for you here.
